Union Public Service Commission on 27th April 2018 released the final result of Civil Services Exam 2017 on its official website-upsc.gov.in. Hyderabad candidate Anudeep Durishetty topped the list.
Anudeep, hailing from Metpally of Jagityal district, is the son of Durishetty Manohar, an additional assistant engineer, and Durishetty Jyothy, a homemaker. The family currently resides in Adarsh Nagar of Metpally.
Anudeep did his schooling in Sri Suryodaya High School and intermediate in Sri Chaitanya Junior College. He completed his BTech from BITS Pilani, Rajasthan, in Electronics and Instrumentation in 2011.
He appeared for the exam with Telugu, Anthropology and English as his optional. He got selected for the IRS in his second attempt in 2013. Later, he made unsuccessful attempts. This is his last attempt.
He is a 2013-batch Indian Revenue Services officer, posted with the Customs and Central Excise. Anudeep was awarded the best officer trainee in the IRS batch during the weapons training programme at NISA Hyderabad. His interest lies in football and Artificial Intelligence.
Anu Kumari secured the second rank, while Sachin Gupta occupied the third spot.
Anu Kumari is the topper among the female candidates, securing an overall 2nd rank. She has graduated with BSc (Hons) in Physics from Delhi University and has done MBA (Finance & Marketing) from IMT, Nagpur.
The top 25 candidates comprise of 17 men and 8 women. Educational qualification-wise the top 25 candidates are from Engineering; Sciences; Anthropology; Management; Law; Mathematics; Medical and Commerce background graduating from premier Institutions of country.
Optional subjects of the top 25 candidates in the examination ranged from Anthropology, Commerce & Accountancy, Economics, Geography, Law, Maths, Physics, Political Science & International Relations, Sociology, and Malayalam Literature.
The recommended candidates include 29 physically challenged persons (9 Orthopedically Handicapped; 8 Visually Challenged and 12 Hearing Impaired). Saumya Sharma, a physically challenged person with hearing impairment, has secured an overall 9th Rank
9,57,590 candidates applied, of which 4,56,625 actually appeared. 13,366 candidates qualified for appearance in Mains exam held in Oct-Nov, 2017. Of them, 2568 candidates qualified for Personality Test conducted in Feb-April, 2018.
Based on the results of the written part of held by the Union Public Service Commission in October-November, 2017 and the interviews for Personality Test held in February-April, 2018, as many as 990 names were recommended for appointment to (i) Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and Central Services, Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’.
The UPSC Main exam was conducted on October 28, 2017.
The UPSC examination was held to recruit 980 posts of Indian nationals in Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Central Services (Group A and Group B) and various other government departments. Out of 980 posts, 54 posts are reserved for reserved categories. The IAS PRE (CSAT) Exam was held on 18 June 2017.
